Tottenham have had a very good 2016. In fact they’ve had their best year in the Premier League era.

Their 4-1 victory over Southampton saw them take their points tally for the year to 71 points, beating their haul of 70 achieved in 2013.

The club record was set in a year which saw them push for the Premier League title last season before ultimately losing out to Leicester after capitulating at the end of the campaign.

This season also started well before defeats to Chelsea and Manchester United saw them lose pace. However the win at St Mary’s saw Mauriccio Pochettino’s side claim their third victory on the bounce and close the gap on fourth place Arsenal to just a point.

Scoring four goals at Southampton was made all the impressive for Spurs considering this stat…
