Its no longer news that singer,  Harrysong , has dumped his record label, Five Star music. However, his reason for leaving has just been made known and it boils down to being under-appreciated by people, he called music family. According to the ‘ Reggae Blues ‘ crooner, who spoke with  Planet TV  recently, he made oit clear first that  ALTER PLATE,  is not a music label, but a company, before delving into the main reason why he left Five Star. Record-breaking producer, actor and comedian, Ayo Makun (AY) has claimed that even though one of the key ingredients to success for African cinema is collaboration, it is severely lacking in the Nigerian filmmaking industry. Speaking as one of the panelists at one of the sessions facilitated by the African Film Consortium at the ongoing Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), AY whose latest work,  A Trip to Jamaica has been confirmed as the highest grossing Nigerian film said that in Nollywood, people take competition too seriously. “In Nollywood it’s been difficult for us to see ourselves as one. It’s like a competition. You see filmmakers ask one another how your film is doing in the cinemas and it’s because they want to know if there are just 5 people there,”AY said. He continued,”If we come together, it will be easy for us to penetrate any market. That is what is called collaboration. But that is something we do not really have in this part of the world.”

A few weeks ago, it was speculated that the young marriage of celebrity couple, Mimi Orjiekwe and Charles Billion was at the verge of hitting the rocks, but thankfully the actress has dispelled the rumours. So many sad news in a day! Nigerian award-winning photojournalist  Adeyinka Adeparusi, who was  earlier reported missing, has been confirmed dead in an accident. Adeparusi has been confirmed to be involved in a motorcycle accident in Abuja and died on the spot.  Yinka was last seen alive when he stepped out of his apartment at about 1.00 pm in Kugbo area of Abuja on Sunday, November 13, with a brief ‘I’ll be back’. Yinka received the People’s Choice Award for Human Rights Photography in Africa, German Development Media Awards in 2013 and was the winner of the photojournalism award of the 6th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting in 2011. Quite a huge loss. 

Top Nollywood filmmaker and Director, Ansa Bassey Kpokpogri has passed away. The Calabar-born mother of one reportedly died of pains from peptic ulcer. Filmmaker Uduak Isong Oguamanam, younger sister of Emem Isong, took to her Facebook to write a glowing tribute to the University of Calabar graduate, whom she described as a friend, partner and colleague; "Grief. The quest to find Brazil’s best bottom has crowned its first black winner. The Headies awards nomination is out and a lot of controversies are heating up, apparently rapper Yung6ix is unhappy with the organisers of the award show. Yung6ix labels the organisers of the annual music awards as being full of tribalism. The enraged rapper took to social media specifically twitter to show off his disgust. ‘ Headies and tribalism though’,  the Warri born rapper tweeted. The 26-year-old rapper is obviously pissed off as he earned no nomination on the Headies nominees list. He argued on twitter that he churned out hits but the award organisers have been sleeping on his efforts. He considers the Headies full of tribalism as his efforts were not recognized.
