China bans Lady Gaga & her entire repertoire, orders websites to stop uploading/distributing her songs after her meeting with Dalai Lama

Image
China's Communist party has reportedly banned singer Lady Gaga from the country after she posted  a 19 minute video of her meeting Dalai Lama to discuss yoga and ponder on issues such as meditation, mental health and humanity detoxification. Following Lady Gaga’s meeting with him, the Communist party’s mysterious propaganda department issued “an important instruction” banning her entire repertoire from mainland China, Hong Kong’s pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily reported on Monday. The video of the meeting sparked an angry reaction from Beijing, which has attacked the spiritual leader as a “wolf in monk’s robes”. Dalai Lama, who fled into exile in March 1959, insists he is merely seeking greater autonomy from Chinese rule for Tibetans. Chinese websites and media organisations according to reports have been ordered to stop uploading or distributing her songs as a sign of Beijing’s irritation at the meeting between the pair. The communist party have also issued orders for p

Former Everton and Norwich City defender Joseph Yobo will play in the Nigerian league, according to the competition’s organisers. The League Management Company (LMC) announced the former Nigeria skipper, who recently celebrated a testimonial in his honour, will feature in the last 12 games of the season as an Elite Player, a similar arrangement that saw former World Cup star, Sani Keita play for Enyimba and then FC IfeanyiUbah. The league will pay part of the player’s salary as he is expected to use his “star power” to draw fans to the stadiums. League leaders Wikki Tourists, IfeanyiUbah, Kano Pillars and Akwa United are among the clubs jostling for the central defender, who has also played for Fenerbahce, Olympique Marseille and Norwich City. In New York City's renowned Gotham Comedy Club, "Scary Movie" and "White Chicks" star Marlon Wayans put on a show last Monday that not only entertained a crowd of pre-teens but kept their parents laughing as well. He talked to CBS News about the cleaned-up act he performed on stage and hopes to bring to a new sitcom slated to premiere later this year. "It's a really fun partnership because of the duality of trying to clean up a dirty comedian," Wayans said of sponsor Scrubbing Bubbles, who had arranged the family-friendly comedy event. "It's a smart take on marrying two brands together." Wayans also discussed how putting together a routine with children in mind has helped him prepare for his upcoming sitcom "Marlon," which he said was "loosely based off [his] own life as an inappropriate dad." "It's an unapologetic sitcom," he said. "I really enjoy performing in front of that live audience.

Image
An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 33-year-old man, Imole Emmanuel , in prison custody for allegedly pouring hot soup on a police corporal, Kayode Akingbade . Emmanuel was arraigned on counts of assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace. He also attempted to snatch the corporal’s rifle. A team of policemen was said to be on surveillance around the Baptist College, Ilawe Road, when one of them asked the suspect to leave the area in order for them to carry out their operation. Akingbade was said to have gone to a canteen to eat about 30 minutes later only for the suspect to trace him there and pour hot soup on him. Moving a bail application, the defence counsel, Gbenga Alabadan, urged the court to grant the accused person bail, saying that he remained innocent until the contrary was proved in court. But the Chief Magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo, said the defence did not justify the bail application. Ayenimo thereafter ordered the defence to appro

The “30 days of quiet” was said to have been agreed upon last week by a federal government team led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and representatives of the militant groups, community leaders and the state governments. According to a source who opened up on the 30-day period of truce, Kachikwu was said to have reached out to the militants through back channels and pleaded for some time for the Buhari administration to come up with a comprehensive Niger Delta plan that would address most of their demands. Ryan Giggs is a shock contender for the vacant Nottingham Forest job. MirrorFootball understands the Manchester United legend has agreed to leave the club he has served 29 years as apprentice, player and coach to take on his first permanent managerial role. Giggs, 42, had been offered the opportunity to stay on at Old Trafford as part of new boss Jose Mourinho's backroom staff - although not as No.2 with the Portuguese's trusted lieutenant Rui Faria taking the position. But after serving two years as Louis van Gaal's assistant, Giggs has decided to jump into management himself and is now among the front runners to take charge at the City Ground. A host of Football League clubs are keen on Giggs, however, and he is not expected to decide his fate until this week at the earliest when his departure from Manchester United is understood to be officially confirmed. Chelsea winger Pedro apologises to Spain teammates after controversial claims international duty wasn't worth his time

Image
Chelsea winger Pedro has apologised to his Spain teammates after a controversial interview in which he suggested he was bored of turning up to international duty solely to make up the numbers. The former Barcelona star endured a tough first season in London, but was still picked for the 23-man tournament squad by coach Vicente Del Bosque and made a substitute appearance in La Roja's Group D opener against the Czech Republic. But the 28-year-old wideman was expecting to see more gametime and, in a poorly-timed interview, claimed he was rethinking his international future. "I had other expectations when I arrived here," he said, "and it's not been what I wanted." "To assume this role is very difficult for me, and if you don't see more continuity then you wonder if it is really worth the trouble to keep coming just to be part of the group, to be with my teammates, even though I'm very comfortable. "I thought that in the Euros I woul

What he said below... Monday, the 25th of April, 2016, will ever remain a dark, sad and solemn day in the memory of the people of Enugu State and indeed Nigerians at large. It was on that day that our brothers and sisters, whose remains are lying here before us, were ambushed and murdered in cold blood and in their own land. Having done all that was needful including attending to the injured and the displaced, we have assembled here, in tears and in grief, to bury the dead and bid their innocent souls a final farewell. Though our emotions cannot restore them to life, we find solace in the fact that the whole world had stood by us and offered us sympathy and solidarity, ever since the incident that took their lives, occurred. Lionel Messi: Argentina still improving at Copa America Centenario

Image
Lionel Messi insists Argentina will continue to grow at the Copa America Centenario, despite an impressive unbeaten run through the group stage of the competition. The Barcelona superstar did not participate in the  Albiceleste 's Group D opening  win against Chile  because of back injury, but starred as a substitute in their  5-0  defeat of Panama and  3-0 defeat of Bolivia. Entering the Copa, Argentina were seen as the favourites to end their 23-year senior trophy drought. And while Messi has already seen an evolution of the team in the tournament, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner maintains Gerardo Martino's side will continue to improve as the stakes increase.  "As we move forward, we're going to grow," Messi told Ole. "We are doing well in all aspects. We have already been working together for a while and have got to know the coaching staff, and they us. "From the beginning until now, we have grown a lot."
