Dolores Winstead, 83, and husband Trent Winstead, 88, passed away together in Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Trent had been admitted due to failing kidneys, and a healthy Dolores made sure she was always there to hold the love of her life’s hand.
Slowly, Trent’s heart began to weaken and he was admitted to intensive care – on the same date Dolores began to complain of a headache and started being sick.
Doctors revealed she had suffered a brain aneurysm and she was hooked up to a ventilator.

The couple were moved to the same room, where Trent held on to Dolores’ hand. She passed away a short while later on December 9.
The couple’s son, Eddie, lent over and told his father that Dolores had died.
Trent turned to face her and blew a kiss – then passed away himself just hours later.
The couple’s daughter, Sheryl, believes her father died that day from a broken heart.
Speaking to Washingon Post, she said: ‘Because she was gone, he just could not handle it. We just watched him die.
‘I hadn’t thought about it this way at the time. (He) literally, he died of a broken heart.
