ESPN FC's Steve Nicol and Alexis Nunes break down Barcelona's latest triumph in La Liga.

1. Barca finish the job and win the title

Luis Suarez was again the goal scorer as Barcelona won 3-0 at Granada on Saturday to seal a sixth La Liga title in the past eight years. The Uruguayan's latest hat trick was the difference as the Catalan club eased to victory on the day and ensured they retained the Primera Division trophy and avoided any final-day discomfort.

With all his outfield stars available, Luis Enrique was able to name the same "gala XI" that won last year's Champions League final. Although they began with intent, there was a feeling maybe things might not go their way when a clever corner-kick routine sprung Gerard Pique unmarked close to goal, but Granada keeper Andres Fernandez clawed away the header.

News then filtered through that Cristiano Ronaldo had put Real Madrid 1-0 ahead 1,000 kilometres away at Deportivo La Coruna, meaning that Barca were down to second in the virtual table. There was a spell of frustration, with Neymar crowded out close to goal, an Andres Iniesta back-heel to nobody in the box and Suarez with his head in his hands as his attempt to send Lionel Messi clear was foiled.

But Suarez was soon smiling as he converted Jordi Alba's cross from close range to make it 1-0 midway through the first half. The Barca No. 9 was celebrating again before the break, as he headed Dani Alves' pull-back to the net. From there the title looked assured.

The half-time lead meant that April's alarming dip in form when Barca took just one point from four games, including the Clasico defeat at home to Madrid, will now be just a footnote to the season. Since then, Luis Enrique's side have scored 24 times without conceding across their final five games, as they regained and then kept their nerve when it was most important.

Ronaldo added another at Riazor, where the final score ended up 2-0. Madrid won each of their last 12 games and could not have done much more to chase Barca down. That a team who at one stage were 12 points adrift in the virtual table, actually lead the standings on the final day for 15 minutes, shows that Zinedine Zidane has done an impressive job since replacing Rafa Benitez in January.

The second half at Granada was very stop-start, with Barca's players growing annoyed at some over-the-line tackles from their opponents. But there was no danger of any embarrassing slip-up now, and Neymar set up Suarez late on to complete his latest treble. The final whistle then soon brought both a 24th La Liga crown and a sense of relief among all the Blaugrana family.

2. Suarez scores more than anyone else

When things were looking pretty dicey for Barca during their slump in form in April, it was Suarez who pulled their season back together with his four-goal haul in their 8-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna. In the five games since then, Suarez has netted 14 times in a perfectly timed purple patch.

Forty La Liga goals for the season ensured that Suarez finished top of the scorers chart, four ahead of second-placed Ronaldo. The Uruguayan is the first player not called Cristiano or Lionel to take the Pichichi crown since Atletico Madrid's Diego Forlan in 2008-09. He is also the only person aside from the superstar duo to ever score so many in one Primera Division campaign. And he's set to win this season's European Golden Boot award, too.

Luis Suarez's hat trick at Granada secured Barcelona the La Liga crown and the Uruguayan the Pichichi award.

There is plenty more to Suarez's game than just his goals, though; the battling Uruguayan brings an aggression and win-at-(almost)-all-costs attitude that his team needs. It was Suarez who at 2-0 up, and Barca heading for the title, was battling back to recover a loose ball in midfield to make sure Granada could not mount a counter-attack. While Neymar has not played badly recently and Messi has shown some nice touches despite looking less than 100 percent, the third South American superstar has driven the team home.

Without Suarez's unique mix of lethal finishing and fierce competitiveness, it is hard to see how Barca would have won this season's title.

3. Granada undone by Barca's lesser-sung full-backs

The build-up to the final round of games this week was dominated by lots of talk aboutmaletines, the cash-stuffed briefcases that have turned up through Spanish football history as incentives to help motivate teams with nothing to play for. Granada's president Quique Pina, coach Jose Gonzalez and players had all loudly proclaimed their intention to give 100 percent as they always do.

There was no shortage of aggression on show from the home team, with both midfielder Ruben Perez and full-back Miguel Lopes looking to avoid serious punishment for ugly stamps on Neymar's ankle when the game was still in the balance. That period did not really last too long, though, as Barca were just too good and easily found their way through a disorganised Granada back line.

Jordi Alba set up Luis Suarez's opener in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Granada on Saturday.

It was clear from early on that Granada had problems in the right-back area, with Neymar tormenting out-of-position David Lomban, and Ruben Rochina not able to track the overlapping Alba. And the first goal came from just that area, with Neymar coming inside and slipping Alba through into acres of space, and the Spain left-back calmly crossing for Suarez to sweep home. That was a sixth La Liga assist this season for Alba, more than any other defender in the competition.

The second goal was not too different but on the other side. Javier Mascherano's pinpoint cross-field ball was retrieved by the overlapping Alves, whose cross was met by Suarez at the near post. Barca had again located the weakness at full-back in the home side and punished it severely. It also meant the Brazil right-back reached 100 assists over his career in La Liga, only the third player (after Messi and Luis Figo) to manage that in the past 20 years.

Alves and Alba are not marquee players at the Camp Nou, but both played big roles in Saturday's win and Barcelona's title-winning success.
