Lupita Nyong'o Calls Out "Unconscious Prejudice" Within the Academy

Lupita Nyong'o is speaking out about the lack of diversity in the 2016 Academy Awards
nominations , which features zero acting nods for people of color for the second year in a row.
"I am disappointed by the lack on inclusion in this year's Academy Award nominations," Nyong'o wrote on Instagram. "It has me thinking about unconscious prejudice and what merits prestige in our culture. The Awards should not dictate the terms of art in our modern society, but rather be a diverse reflection of the best of what our art has to offer today. I stand with my peers who are calling for change in expanding the stories that are told and the recognition of the people who tell them."

The post by Nyong'o, who won Best Supporting Actress in 2014 for her performance in 12 Years a Slave , follows Spike Lee 's and Jada Pinkett Smith 's criticisms of the Oscars. While Nyong'o's statement mentions nothing about boycotting the ceremony, she does include a quote by James Baldwin that reads: "Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced."

Amber Rose's likeness and name have been used to allegedly lure women into prostitution. According to TMZ, police are investigating a company that was soliciting models "for a paid celebrity photoshoot and clothing line." Up-and-coming models who saw the advertisement on Instagram and later contacted the business were reportedly told Amber was a key person in picking the models. Eventually, a purported FaceTime session between the model and Amber would be set up. When the prospective models called in, however, the company would reportedly use an old video from Amber's Ustream that would ultimately result in a bad connection.
