Arsene Wenger has defender star forward Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean lost his cool after a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Sanchez, who had already had a bust-up with team-mate Aaron Ramsey during the game, reacted angrily after Arsenal dropped points and slipped further away from Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

Despite a miraculous comeback after falling 3-0 down, Sanchez was spotted furiously throwing his gloves to the ground before storming down the tunnel – actions Wenger has played down as pure passion and desire to win games.

‘What is surprising? We want to win the games, if you don’t you’re not happy. That is normal,’ the Arsenal boss said in a press conference.

‘Without passion you do not come back when you are at 70 mins and 3-0 down,’ he added.

‘It is exceptional and you need a special response.

‘We are all frustrated. Of course he (Sanchez) is fine.’

Arsenal will now look to put the disappointment of the draw behind them when they face Preston in the FA Cup Third round on Saturday.
