Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his
500th career goal after finding the net in
Wednesday's clash with Malmo.
The capital club featured in their second
Champions League game of 2015-16 as the
former Manchester United player reach a special
milestone, joining the likes of Pele, Ferenc Puskas,
Gerd Muller and Alfredo Di Stefano in reaching
500 career goals.
Ronaldo's remarkable goal tally is spread over
club and international appearances, beginning with
five goals for first club Sporting, 118 in a
successful spell with Manchester United, 55 for
Portugal and 322 for current club Madrid.
The Portugal attacked joined the 10-times
Champions League winners in 2009 for what was
then a world record fee of €94 million (£84m), and
set about topping La Liga scoring charts from the
outset.
The 30-year-old's first season in Madrid yielded
33 goals from 35 appearances, an impressive feat
in itself, before exploding into truly prodigious
goalscoring form, averaging over 50 goals in each
of the subsequent seasons.
Ronaldo's career has been littered with trophies,
including three Premier League titles and two
Champions League wins, as well as three Ballon
d'Or titles as an individual.
The forward is also his country's highest ever
scorer, surpassing illustrious names such as
Eusebio, and has amassed 122 international
caps.
