Luis Suarez signs new Barcelona deal with £167.5m release clause

Luis Suarez has signed a new deal with Barcelona, which will keep him at the club until 2021.

The former Liverpool ace had confirmed his intention to renew with the Catalan giants and has now put pen to paper on a new four-and-a-half year contract.

Should anyone want to land the Uruguay international, they will have to trigger his astronomical £167.5million release clause.

The 29-year-old has been in electric form this season, scoring 10 goals in 13 La Liga starts as well as providing three assists.

However, Barcelona are currently six points behind Real Madrid at the top of the Spanish first division and will desperately look to close the gap.

The blow of their disappointing league form will certainly be softened by the recent renewals of major stars.

Neymar has already signed a new contract, with Lionel Messi and Ivan Rakitic have expressed their desire to continue at the Camp Nou
