United States rebounds versus Costa Rica with 4-0 win at Copa

Clint Dempsey had a goal and two assists, and the United States rebounded from its opening loss in the Copa America with a convincing 4-0 victory over Costa Rica on Tuesday night. Jermaine Jones, Bobby Wood and Graham Zusi also scored as the U.S. moved into prime position to grab one of two spots in the knockout round coming out of Group A in South America's championship. The Americans take on Paraguay in Philadelphia on Saturday night. It was quite a response to days of questions after the U.S. allowed a goal off a corner kick and committed a costly hand ball in a  2-0 loss to Colombia on Friday night. Costa Rica, which  played a scoreless tie against Paraguay  in its Copa opener on Saturday in Florida, looked sluggish for long stretches of the first half and was unable to recover. Colombia and James Rodriguez hold on to beat Paraguay

James Rodriguez scored a goal and set up another in the first 30 minutes, and Colombia clinched a berth in the Copa America quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Paraguay on Tuesday night. Colombia became the first team to secure a spot in the knockout stage of the tournament with stellar goaltending from David Ospina and another dynamic performance from Rodriguez, who shook off a shoulder injury that made his availability a game-time decision at the Rose Bowl. The Real Madrid midfielder propelled Colombia to their second win in two matches, following  a 2-0 victory over the United States  last week. Victor Ayala scored Paraguay's first goal of the Copa America in the 71st minute on a long shot past Ospina, who made a handful of jaw-dropping saves to keep Colombia ahead.
