The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reboot Reportedly in Development

Another day, another announcement of a classic '90s sitcom getting rebooted. When will this craze end?!

The beloved show getting rebooted, for better or for worse, this time? The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Seriously. Is nothing sacred?

TVLine reports The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's original star Will Smith is leading the talks to reboot the show...but this time, he'll be behind the camera as a producer. His production company, Overbrook Entertainment, is in the early stages of developing a present-day version of the sitcom. Plot and character details are still being discussed, but the new reboot will reportedly put a new spin on the fish-out-of-water tale while maintaining the spirit of the original series which ran for six seasons on NBC, before ending in 1996.

If The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot gets picked up, Smith would serve as an executive producer in addition to his Overbrook producing partners James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Some reboots we can handle--like Fuller House, since the entire original cast (minus the Olsen twins) is returning to reprise their roles, or Prison Break, which is a continuation of the story that ended in the finale. We're also getting a new Coach series at NBC and more The X-Files at Fox. But rebooting a beloved '90s sitcom with a whole new cast? We are so conflicted.
