FORMER ARSENAL STAR RETIRES
Former Arsenal midfielder and captain Gilberto Silva who was a key member of the Gunners’ 2003/04 Invincibles has announced his retirement from the game after 20 years of playing professional football.
The 39-year-old Brazilian has been playing for country club Atletico Mineiro.
“It is a moment that can be classified as both sad and annoying, but no matter how painful it is, I’ve had 20 wonderful years of football.
“Therefore, I will remember the joy,” said Gilberto.
“The last few years I have put effort into preparing me for the next phase in life. Now I feel it is time.”
