EDITORIAL: ERIGGA A RAP GENIUS OR ..............?
Erhiga Agarivbie but better known as "Erigga newmoney" a controversial rapper and street acclaimed king of the south is popularly known for his obscene and hard lyrics which basically has resulted in several debates about his position in the rap industry and society. In spite of the hard and extreme vulgarity expressed in the lyrics of his tracks, it's inevitable to deny the dexterity inherent in his songs; from uncensored punch lines("I dey hang her like wet bed spread")#DeathBed to the crudest of choruses, the warri breed rapper leaves little or nothing concealed and as he always says; "I dey give am the way e be.", and as such in Coupe decale ft Shuu bebe he bluntly said "Anytime I hit am no be say talk she must sweat like who dey do concre work". His unique style of hardcore creates an attractive and controversial aura that has constantly been sprouting series of opinions about him; supporters and opposers alike. Not withstanding his airplay drought prior to the hard lyrics and explicit contents immersed in his songs; ( "Like toto when over sweet, I done CUM" an extract from one of his tracks MR Paperboi), the street acclaimed king of the south("ask for the south,I'm hot dude, hold ur girl before she begin BLOW me like hot food") shows indifference to this and proudly rekindle his rap mission and purpose which is "music strictly for the street" Hence he reaffirms in #RoadToHeadies;"You can say by my flows that am all streets". Even though his style of music doesn't promotes him and gives him a more widely dispersed audience, Erigga still keeps doing that which he started and directly raining constructive abuses on haters and oppositions hence he said on his recent track "Death bed" "If you don't like me F.. U.. C.. K.. F**k you from the bottom off my heart though". Admist his hardcore and tracks about the industry struggles, street gospel/motivation and gangster life all immersed in gritty and nude lyrics, does this presents Erigga as a RAP GENUIS whose songs relates crude but realistic issues to the street and brings motivation? or does his unconcealed and vulgar lyrics proclaims him a menace to the society? Like the same debate has been innate in Paperboi hence he said; "I'm just a soul whose intentions are good, oh lord please don't let me be misunderstood" Whatyasay about Erigga? Rap genuis? Or Menace to the society?
